Flightless Bird Seeking Same

A young ostrich nun
Walked into a bar
And met a young emu
With two dozen eggs.
She had been looking
For young souls to teach,
And he for a chick with long legs.

So she squawked and he flirted
And showed her his cartons
And she buried her habited
Head in the sand.
And both of them left,
Neither one satisfied.
Neither one left a tip for the band.

The very next day
The ostrich logged in
To FlightlessBirdsMingle.com
Where she sought others
With broods to be won.
The emu just hired a madame.

The Waiter’s Revenge

Like springtime peaches
Or December pears
Her disposition was sour.
Her malcontent
Left ripening
For well over an hour.

She left me not
A tip that night
Since the service was so slow.
I’m not the kind
To ruin food
But brake lines… Yes or no?

Another 6:00 P.M Poem

I have posted poems
271 days straight,
So you’d think by now I’d have one
Before the clock hits 8:00.

Well here it is, as promised
Though it clearly lacks a point.
By night fall my creative brain
And rhyming brains are spent.

A Poignant Thought

If we ever know world peace
We’d have all the luck,
But all of the to-be-released
“Call of Duty” games would suck.

Growing Up

The human-style animals
Are the happiest animals on four legs.
Look around and you will see it’s true.
Yet the casual observer
May see a change in disposition
In those humanoids who walk around on two.

The Thinker’s Song

I do not idolize
Celebrities who sing,
Who make emotions at a camera
Or hold a bat and swing.

I don’t talk about religion,
Politics or TV,
Or the theory of evolution
(Unless it’s in the context of eevee).

You might think me quiet,
And most often you’re spot on,
But bring up something interesting
And I’ll go on and on.

So if you want to know what’s new,
Do not ask me “how are you?”

A Comment on Current Events

Three short poems in a row
May feel a bit like cheating
Today’s this poet’s birthday
And I’m much too busy eating.
