When walking up my driveway
A wolf accosted me.
It snarled, crouched and bared its teeth.
No rescue could I see.
Then all of a sudden
Completely out of nowhere
The wolf was killed and eaten
By a rampant grizzly bear.
The bear, though it had eaten
Was apparently hungry still,
But again I was rescued
When a dragon had its fill.
Now bears have mighty stomachs,
But a dragon can eat more.
I looked for my salvation
And indeed I heard a roar.
The dragon tried to fly away
But something greater still
Seized the dragon in its teeth
And proceeded with the kill.
Now alone with this new beast,
Godlike and full of hate
I thought “she’s home early,”
And said “Wow, have you lost weight?”
