Off The Grid

The government is playing Yahtzee

Except instead of rolling dice

They get to place the dice face-up

However they think is nice.

Meanwhile, they make us roll our dice

And tell them what we rolled

Even though they already watched us

And take half our score ‘til we fold.

Playing Yahtzee with the government

Is not a whole lot of fun

So that’s why I want to go live in the woods

With my wife, my dog, and my gun.

  1. When justice no longer reigns
When people are seen as pawns
    When diligent work is decried
When honesty is no longer valued
When one’s safety is in question
    When empathy is mocked
    When basic needs are denied
    We have lost our freedom

When lies are seen as truth
    When only oligarchs count
    When I’ll intent is rewarded
    When misinformation reigns
    When might makes right
    When bravado is worshipped
    When rich posture like heroes
    We are living a nightmare

    Seek out caring people
    Posture empathy
    Over a shimmer of hope
Care for the land that feeds you
    Listen to those who struggle
    Reach out to help
    Rebuild a caring community
    Rebuild civilization
