D and D went long.
We were fighting evil frogs!
What do you mean, “Nerd”?

Growing up is when you play
D&D 12 hours a day.
Being an adult is when your Bard
Says “It’s 9:00 guys. We worked too hard.”

So I spent 7 hours
Writing history and motivation
For a character who will capture
My players’ imagination.
They walk up to the character
And immediately leave
And then adopt an NPC
I randomly named “Steve”.

Tonight we play D&D
And pretend to not be me
And instead be a wizard
Who’s also a lizard
And does not write bad poetry.

If at first you don’t succeed
You may find wit is what you need;
If your wit should fail, then try
To punch your foe into the sky;
If the sky is far or your muscles weak
With silver tongue you next must speak;
And should you speak as does this poet
Conjure a fireball and throw it.

There once was a skeezy Paladin,
A sly assassin, a cheesy bard,
A moon priestess, an archer,
And they rolled the dice real hard.
They stopped a civil war of trolls
And saved a duke from bombs of magic
And they lived happily ever after
(Which is the opposite of tragic).

There once was a D&D game
Hosted by this poet, the same.
It ended quite late
With most epic of fates
But as consequence this poem is lame.

I played D&D tonight
And we had an epic fight.
Now this nerd must rest his head
Because it’s past his time for bed.

There once were some nerds from Puyallup
That imagined some monsters to wallop.
They played D&D
‘Til they passed level 3
And yes, that’s an actual place… Puyallup.
