When You Have To Do More Than One Creative Thing In A Day

There once was a D&D game

Hosted by this poet, the same.

It ended quite late

With most epic of fates

But as consequence this poem is lame.

I Used To Write These At 11:59. Now I Write Them At 8:56. I Must Be Getting Old

I played D&D tonight

And we had an epic fight.

Now this nerd must rest his head

Because it’s past his time for bed.

The Fantasy World Has More Normal Names For Its Cities

There once were some nerds from Puyallup

That imagined some monsters to wallop.

They played D&D

‘Til they passed level 3

And yes, that’s an actual place… Puyallup.

What People Who Don’t Play D&D Think It Is

“If I had a mugwump

For every warlock I

Smote fiercely with a fireball

I’d have six succubi!”

Thus spake the rogue of Harkenfell

Who wields a lengthy blade;

Many orcs by it were slewn

And many damsels laid.

The cleric sighed disdainfully,

The fighter’s belly shook,

The paladin had left the inn,

The wizard read a book,

And I the bard wrote verse on this,

The wandering hero’s life

For I am a virginal roleplayer

With a very un-roguish knife.

OKICURAB

Some think the title is an advocacy group.

Some read “Ok, I see you are a bee.”

Some think it’s the name of a fantasy villain,

And only the last group plays D&D.

The Last Word Means “Isn’t It” In Sekigaharan-Era Japanese… Or Something

I’m a bit of a shut-in,

A nerd I confess.

(A semi-pro poet?

Now who’d ever guess?)

But today I got social.

(Is he out of his mind?)

I got out of the house

Leaving nerddom behind.

At 8:00 AM sharp

I watched children play chess

Then I drove to Canada

To play Pokemon (yes).

Then I played a game

Of Sekigahara

Which is about Japanese folks

Whose names rhyme with Ishikara.

I ended it all

By taking a friend

To an improv show based on

The D&D trend.

I got home at 11:00

And 51 minutes.

It’s good to know I’m

A nerd no longer, innit?

The Rogue Turns 21

Murderous harlots,

Criminal trollops,

And other such vagrants

Gathereth here.

They bring you candles

And tall paper hats

To cherish your living

Another whole year.
They blow on noisemakers

And sing stupid songs,

Cut open your cake

With a cold-steel blade.

A few sacrifice

A goat in your honor.

Throughout it all

Your face remains staid.
As your friends dance

In your post-birthday haze

You lighten their purses

And head out the door.

You retire wealthy,

And don’t even mind

That your D&D group

Doesn’t like you no more.

The Laziest D&D Player

Perhaps it was lack of intelligence,
Or a lack of wisdom instead
But I’d not the will or constitution
To get out of my bed.

So I stayed in the tavern
While the party went to fight.
But I felt justified
When they did not return that night.

So I practiced my diplomacy
In preparation for
The next adventure party
To come through the tavern door.

Thus is my sovereign duty
In a game so very hard,
For I cannot change my choice
To play a halfling bard.
