What, You Expected A Point?

If a “house plant” is a thing

A “home tree” should be too,

As should a “duplex flower”

And “skyscraper bamboo.”

But perhaps my favorite combo

(The others are still great though)

Is either “Airbnb broccoli”

Or else “hovel tomato”.

Nothing Good Stems From Small Talk… Get It? Stems?

I think I know why plants don’t speak

And the reason is this:

They cannot pronounce the word

“Photosynthesis.”

My other hypothesis

For why speech is elusive

Is that plants are politically moderate

(But evidence is inconclusive).

The Power Plant

They asked me “where’s the power plant?”

I pointed towards the woods

And they set out to find it

And claim its electric goods.

They asked me “where’s the power plant?”

And went off to the forest.

Now I picture them and laugh

‘Cause me they must abhorest.

They asked me “where’s the power plant?”

I pointed to the oaks,

The tow’ring cedar, stalwart maple,

Not intending it as a hoax.

They asked me “where’s the power plant?”

I pictured a mighty tree

Because a hundred feet of hardwood

Is a powerful plant to me.

Why Don’t Plants Move?

I used to know

Why plants didn’t move.

About it I used to sing,

But now I’m confused

Because chlorophyll

And chloroform aren’t the same thing.
