Mirror Mirror, Confidant

Mirror mirror

On the wall,

Inanimate object

Which is humanly tall,

Always honest,

Occasionally kind.

Some make it their lives.

Some pay it no mind.

Mirror mirror

(The rearview one),

You’re much more useful

Than my son.

You save my life

Most every day

Which is more than for

That little jerk I can say…

Mirror mirror

Speckled with spit

Above the sink

Next to where I shit.

You are a helpful

Reflective fellow

And thanks to you

My teeth are lighter yellow.

Mirror mirror

That I clutch,

I don’t think my Dad

Likes me very much.

It started when

I pushed him out of the boat

When we were touring the castle

With the shark infested moat.

Mirror mirror

Above the bed,

You don’t judge me

For missing half my head.

For now I sleep

But tomorrow’ll be fun.

I’m going make-up skydiving

With my son.

Mirror mirror,

Reflective lake

My fall you are

Destined to break.

The chute did nothing

When I pulled the pin.

Hey, what’s that gray

Triangular fin?

The Evening Following Fido’s Emancipation

Tasty chunka meat

Sizzlin’ nicely on the stove.

Who’s “master” now, Bitch?

Found In A Jock’s First Aid Manual

Examine the location

Of your injured body part.

Elevate it to a place

That is up above your heart.

Then wait as you remember saying

“Technical writing’s a crappy job.”

Be careful who you tease in high school.

Good luck! Yours truly, Bob.

Valor’s Better Half (Alternate Title: Close To Home)

Discretion is a virtue

For which some have a knack.

Alas, it seems my roommate

In this department oft does lack.

I too must use discretion

When I lay upon his pillow

Subtle ads for soundproofing

And houses for rent on Zillow.

His endurance is remarkable

As much as his discretion.

He can “dance” for 90 minutes

Split into 60 micro-sessions.

I thought about live-tweeting

My compatriot’s loving dance

But by the time I’d typed my password

I’d already lost my chance.

Now in addition to discretion

Temperance I must display

To avoid sending him this poem

About his “bet you can’t have just one” lays.

You might call that passive-aggressive

And Dear Reader you’d be right.

I’ll ponder such implications

As I’m live-tweeting tonight.

The Lament Of An Atheist Ghost

If you kill me

‘Til I’m dead

By hitting me

Upon my head

I will not get

Revenge on you

‘Cause that’s not a thing

Dead folks can do.

Robin’s Faux-Pas

As I lay in the dust,

My body broken,

My blood pooling into a lake

I remembered saying

“At least I’m not an orphan.”

Sorry Batman, my mistake.

An Unappreciated Gift

The shape of Mount Everest,

And nearly the size

My dog’s defecation

On my neighbor’s lawn lies.

The shape of an axe

(Because that’s what it is),

My neighbor reminds me

To keep off what’s his.

The shape of a puppy

And the acent of a fart,

My dog watches this thinking

“They just don’t get my art.”

The Chihuahua Cometh

Hear ye, neighbors!

The herald of the morning

And a singer through the night

Has arrived this day!

He weighs four pounds

Of pure vocal chords

And hatred for humanity.

Next time think twice

About blocking my driveway.

…Until You Fall Asleep

Is it evil to hate those

Who collide at high speed

And slow down the traffic

On your way to work?

If you type “Lol”

When you mean “I hope you bleed,”

Is that being human

Or being a jerk?

If somebody pokes you

And you grab their head

And crush it with gusto

In an industrial vice,

Or set them on fire

And chant “Presto Combusto”

Is that so wrong?

Ok… I’ll be nice…

Revenge

Bird in the window,

Looking at me.

Windowsill avian,

What do you see?
Human inside,

Being looked at-

I just came to say,

“Say goodbye to your cat.”
