Red alert! It’s Mom and Dad
Taking pillows back…

“Hey girl”, I texted.
“What’s up?” She replied.
Then I flashed back to the first three minutes of Pixar’s masterpiece, “Up”
And inevitably cried.

She was a lovely Venomoth
With 409 CP.
Although I gave her many Razz
She would not stay with me.
She ripped off all my Pokeballs
And left me pale with pallor.
I hope that she finds happiness
With someone from team Valor.

They say they’ll write me,
Keep me up to date
As for my lost luggage
I anxiously wait.
But sometimes I’m weak
And I go online
To check out the status
Of that “delayed” bag of mine.
I type in my last name,
An eight digit code
And wait five painful seconds
For the website to load
Only to find
Its status unchanged.
It’s made a me a little
Completely deranged.
“Assign me a driver”
I woefully shriek,
But “findmysuitcase.com”
Doesn’t hear what I speak.
That’s how I’ve been living
For most of the day
Until United Airlines
Sends that suitcase my way.

I wish you could have been there
When I walked for the first time.
I wish you could have been the one
To give me my first dime.
I wish that you’d had the chance
To see my first crayon art,
But I know that you couldn’t
So I live-streamed it from my heart.
Sometimes we are seperate
When we wish we were near.
Sometimes we’re gone for hours,
Sometimes for many years.
I wish you could’ve seen it
When I got on stage and sang.
I wish you could have been there
When the wedding bells rang.
I wish you could have hugged me
Each time my life was torn apart
But I know that you couldn’t
So I live-streamed it from my heart.
Sometimes life asks questions
That have no good answers.
Some folks must be soldiers
So others can be dancers.
I wish that I had known you,
Asked you questions and the like.
I wish we could watch movies,
Play with cards or take a hike.
I wish that we could blame the dog
When one of us would fart.
Someday we’ll have the chance. ‘Til then
I’ll live-stream from my heart.
Sometimes the cruel or thoughtless
Can take away a life.
Sometimes we see a uniform
And not its kids and wife.
I wish you could have been there
When that bomb fell from the sky.
I wish you could have been here
So you wouldn’t have to die.
I wish the world would parley
Before any war would start.
At least I know you feel the love
Live-streaming from my heart.

As I lay in the dust,
My body broken,
My blood pooling into a lake
I remembered saying
“At least I’m not an orphan.”
Sorry Batman, my mistake.

A hangdog and a long-faced horse
Walked into a bar.
A few hours later they both walked home
‘Cause they didn’t own a car.
They didn’t much enjoy themselves
Nor change their sorry fate.
But it was fun compared to
Watching the GOP debate.
