Confessions of a Former Spelling Bee Champion

There once was a guy named Kibau

Who lived on a farm with a plough.

He once swore a vow

Never once to say “Ciao”

And you get the point: Spelling is stupid.

Who went for a leisurely jague.

He ran for a while

With a big happy smhile

But, alas, he fell into a bague.

North and Whyknown’uh Approve

Parents these days think names

Are unique if spelled a different way.

Alas we end up asking

“How do you spell William with a K?”

Lacking Results From My C/T Scan (In A Sense)

I have a confession:

I can’t spell dietician.

Autocorrect is not helpful

And abuses its position.

If it has a “c” or “t”

For the ician/itian portion

Forces all my logic

To perform quite the contortion.

I was going to write a poem

Full of whimsy, fun, and laughter

But I lacked aforementioned spellings

That I’d long-since afore-sought after.

Thus you get this poem

Lacking good diet advice.

On the bright side dumbness inspired me

And I guess that’s pretty nice.

Salmon has a silent L.

Nothing has a silent Q.

I wish I were like the word “vague,”

That is, with a silent U.
