I Am The Paladin Of Unpopular Opinions: Hear Me Speak Semi-Audibly

I hate to say, but modern times

Have brought to bear such modern crimes

As the thought that changing what we call bad things

Will make them fly away on silver wings.

Amidst PC culture’s genital diminution

I seek to find an ancient solution

Because I doubt folks in Pompeii

Said “That eruption’s a hot social event for the end of your day!”

Some say the truth will set you free,

That the ultimate good is reality.

I like to think those things are true,

But no one told the local SJW.

So I’ll just be honest on this, my blog

To cut through society’s “minimally exceptional” fog.

And if you get offended by hearing what’s true

I bet there’s a polite alternative name out there for you.

Oxymoron Of The Week: Religious Humor

A religious type of joke

Is often what offends

An amazing group of people’s

Imaginary friends.

I will mock all religions

In this poem I now write

Except, or course, for Islam

‘Cause I’m flammable and white.

I saw a gay pride event

As I was walking to my car.

They’d gathered ’round the Catholic Church

So the priests needn’t walk too far.

I wanted to amuse a Jewish bloke

And so I took a stab. I

Think they might have laughed had I

Not tried to high-five the Rabbi.

I met a “spiritual but not religious”

Person just the other day.

I asked them “is my latte ready?”

They said “yes, now go away.”

I’m not sure about Agnostics.

If Skeptics have jokes, I don’t know ’em.

The Buddhists suffer eternally

Whether or not they read this poem.

I want to end with one last joke

To make you giggle or scoff:

Don’t get circumcised on a budget

‘Cause it might be a rip off.

Yes, And: Suicide Prevention

I said to my therapist

“I want to end it all,

To solve all of my problems

With a gun and/or a fall.”

My therapist nodded grimly,

Stared up at the ceiling fan,

And said “well, you’ve convinced me.

Thanks a million, man!”

In the end, I didn’t kill myself,

As nice as that would be

‘Cause when I die another problem

Will be waiting there for me.

A Eulogy For Chivalry

When I see modern people

Here’s what’s going through my mind:

The eye of the beholder

Must be legally blind.

You think a girl is only pretty
If she’s so young they have to card her

And a man is only worthy

If he works hard and plays harder.

While taking off your shirt

Can be your gender-neutral ace

You can be even more attractive

By putting metal in your face.

You know a girl’s high-status

If she can get a friend to snap her

A photo for her profile

Besides the mirror in the crapper.

If you lack a personality

Emojiis have your back.

If all else fails chicks dig it

When you compliment their rack.

These days you are a chauvinist

By opening a door

But if you care about her day

You come off as a bore.

We relegate the olden days

Away on mental shelves.

We may still lay coats over puddles

But now we step on them ourselves.

Yay Democracy!

Trying to fix politics

By working from within

Is like using a trowel

To fill the Grand Canyon in.

Alas, fixing politics

By showing up to vote

Is like taking that same trowel

To South Dakota via boat.

Driving Home

Today I returned home from my vacation in Portland, OR. The following are a few poems I thought of over the six hour drive when I should have been avoiding pedestrians:

Feel free to tailgate my ass,

But the more you press, the less I gas.

The sooner I’m back

In Oregon

The sooner your drivers

I can deplore again.

Other People’s Cats

Life is like this little guy,

At first cute and fluffy and shy.

It’ll sit on your lap,

Happy purring, then SNAP!

And that’s why I wear this glass eye…

New Releases, Same As The Old Releases

The plots of every video game

Turn out to be exactly the same:

An underdog becomes more skilled

Until the villain can be killed.
I created a game of my own

That you can play without a phone

In which a group of Demon Lords

Present you with various rewards.
Some give freedom, some give wealth.

Some guarantee you perfect health.

Some will make the world at peace

Or let you meet the cast of “Grease.”
Your character has just one year

(Minus time for sleeping, work, and beer)

To help your choice of Demon Lord

Get the power to give you your reward.
And after all is said and done

Whichever Demon eventually won

Will not give you what they said.

They’ll do what’s best for them instead.
How many of you think “sounds like fun?”

Oh really? I guess that’s no one…

The name of the game is Election Day.

It’s coming in November to the USA.

That Got Morbid Fast…

If freedom were free

That would be fine with me,

But then who’d pay for weapons

To blow up the foreigners?

So thank guys in cammo

And the makers of ammo

For giving us freedom.

Yours truly, the coroners.
